Description

A row of flat silver bars set across the finger, each one a different length, stepping up to a peak in the middle and back down again. Behind them the surface is oxidised almost black, so the bars stand off a dark ground rather than sitting on a silver one. No two bars carry the same texture. One is struck with deep round dimples, the next with fine parallel striations, another stippled to a rough matte — worked individually with different tools before being set in place. It is the reason the ring does not read as a machined grid: catch it in the light and each bar answers differently. Small silver beads run along the darkened crossbars behind, filling the gaps between the uprights. The band splits into two slim hammered rails at the shoulders and rejoins under the finger. That is a structural decision as much as a visual one: a face this size on a single band tends to rotate, and the split holds it upright while keeping the underside light.
