Description

A wide round face of hand-hammered sterling silver, darkened in the hollows so every mark of the hammer stays visible, with an openwork copper knot set into the centre. The disc measures [__] mm across, so it sits like a small shield across the finger. The frame is worked by hand: the silver is domed, then struck point by point until the surface holds hundreds of small dimples. Oxidation is pushed into those dimples and polished back off the high points, which is what gives the face its two-tone depth instead of a flat grey. The centre is a separate piece — copper wire bent into a continuous interlaced knot, open at the back so light passes through the pattern and the warm metal reads clearly against the dark silver. The knot itself follows the endless interlace found on Anatolian metalwork and stonework, where a single line loops back on itself with no beginning and no end. It is the reason the ring works as a quiet piece rather than a loud one: the eye follows the line instead of landing on a stone. Two metals also means two ways of ageing. The 925 silver frame keeps its oxidised contrast and can be brightened on the raised areas with a dry polishing cloth. The copper centre will deepen over time into a warmer, browner tone — that patina is part of the design, and a copper-safe cleaner will bring it back if you prefer it bright. The band is flat and [__] mm wide, comfortable enough for daily wear and substantial enough to carry the face without tipping. FAQs

Is this ring solid sterling silver?

Yes. The band and the hammered disc are solid 925 sterling silver. Only the interlaced medallion at the centre is copper, chosen for the colour contrast. Nothing is plated.

Will the copper centre change colour over time?

It will, and that is expected. Copper darkens into a warmer brown tone with wear and skin contact. If you prefer it bright, a copper-safe polish or a soft cloth with a little lemon and salt restores the original colour in a minute.

Will the black oxidised finish rub off?

The oxidation sits in the hammered hollows, where hands rarely touch, so it stays put far longer than a surface coating. The raised points will gradually brighten with wear, which increases the contrast rather than removing it. Avoid silver dip solutions — they strip both the oxidation and the copper.

What ring sizes do you offer, and can it be resized?

In our own workshop in Cappadocia, Turkey. The silver is hammered, domed and oxidised by hand and the copper knot is formed and set by the same silversmith, so no two rings are exactly alike.
