Description

An extra-wide silver ring built from individual hand-forged strands that wrap around the finger one above the other, with real gaps left open between them. It stands [__] mm tall, covering most of the space between the knuckles, and you can see straight through it. The strands are forged separately, then laid and joined so they cross and drift rather than run parallel — the spacing tightens in places and opens in others. Every strand is oxidised along its length and polished back only on the crown, which is why the ring reads as a set of bright lines against dark rather than one grey mass. The dark recesses are what give a piece this large its depth; a fully polished version of the same ring would be a heavy blank. Openness is the point of the construction. A solid silver band this tall would be uncomfortable and far too heavy for daily wear — around [__] g here, which is light for the size. The gaps let skin show through and let the ring flex with the hand instead of sitting on it like a cuff. The inner band is smooth and unbroken, so nothing presses or catches on the finger, and the strands sit entirely on the outside. No stone, no second metal: the whole ring is 925 sterling silver. It is a sculptural piece meant to be the only thing on the hand, and it works as well with a plain shirt as with something layered. Made by hand in our Cappadocia workshop. Because the strands are forged one at a time, the way they cross and the size of the gaps are different on every ring — the piece you receive will not match the photographs line for line.

FAQs

Is this ring solid sterling silver?

Yes — 925 sterling silver throughout, strands and inner band alike. No plating, no stone, no second metal. The dark tone is oxidation on the silver itself.

Is a ring this tall actually comfortable to wear?

It is, for two reasons. The inner band is smooth and unbroken, so nothing presses into the finger, and the open construction keeps the weight to about [__] g — a solid band of the same height would be several times heavier and would stop your finger bending.

Will it catch on clothing?

Honestly: more than a plain band would. The strands have open edges, so we would avoid fine knitwear, lace and loose weaves. Against cotton, denim and most everyday fabrics it passes cleanly.

How do I clean between the strands?

Warm water and a soft brush, then dry it fully — the gaps are open front and back, so nothing stays trapped. Use a dry polishing cloth on the bright crowns only, and never a liquid silver dip: it would strip the oxidation out of every recess and flatten the whole design.

Will the dark finish wear off the strands?

The crowns of the strands are already polished bright, so wear only extends what is intended. The oxidation sits along the sides and in the gaps, where nothing rubs, and stays dark.

What ring sizes are available, and can it be resized?

Will my ring look exactly like the photographs?

No, and that is deliberate. Each strand is forged and placed by hand, so the crossings and the size of the gaps fall differently every time. The height, the weight and the finish are consistent; the pattern is not.
