Description

A wide silver band, gently concave so it dips in the middle and rises at the edges, scattered with flat-topped silver dots of different sizes. The ground between them is oxidised almost black, so the dots read as bright discs on a dark field rather than texture on a grey one. The dots are set individually and deliberately unevenly — large next to small, clustered in places, open in others, some almost touching. A regular grid would have made the band look machine-punched; the irregularity is what makes it read as river stones or scattered seed rather than a pattern. The tops of the dots are flattened and polished, not domed. That is a wearing decision as much as a visual one: flat tops slide over clothing, they catch light in broad flashes instead of pinpoints, and they polish themselves brighter with wear while the dark ground stays put underneath. The concave profile matters more than it looks. A flat band of this width presses at its edges; the dip lets the ring sit into the finger instead of on top of it. The shoulders are left plain and smooth, so there is a clean stretch of polished silver where the ring meets the hand — the quiet part that makes the scattered part read. No stone, no second metal — the whole ring is 925 sterling silver, and all the contrast comes from oxidation and the shape of the dots. Made by hand in our Cappadocia workshop.
